The Story Behind The Amethyst Moon
Hello and welcome. I’m Therese.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a creative spirit ~ drawing, dreaming, and forging connection with the natural world. My passion for metalwork was first sparked while working in a professional bench jeweler’s shop, an immersive experience that blossomed into a lifelong dedication to traditional metalsmithing, material integrity, and intentional design.
Today, as the artisan behind The Amethyst Moon, I pour that foundational bench training into every relic, combining age-old metalsmithing techniques with modern electroformed alchemy.
The Mission: Artifacts & Relics Crafted with Intention
The Amethyst Moon is more than an artisan jewelry studio; it is a physical extension of my reverence for the earth and a reflection of my personal journey. My mission is to create genuine, soul-centered treasures designed to act as physical anchors for your personal rituals ~ connecting you with the untamed energy of raw stones and your own intuition. Every piece is intentionally slowmade in my studio, including:
- Artisan Relics & Talismans: One-of-a-kind amulets forged in sterling silver, fine copper, and hand-selected stones to be worn as reflections of your inner strength.
- Apothecary & Vessel Art: Hand-crafted, heavy-walled glass vessels and copper tools designed to elevate your daily intentions.
- Sanctuary Adornments: Sculptural crystal mobiles and copper-bound stone accents created to bring the grounding energy of nature into your space.
The Alchemy: Where Ancient Bench Work Meets the Electrocauldron
My creative process is deeply rooted in the rugged atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest ~ an inspiration I carry into my Southern California studio, where each piece takes form.
Intentional Sourcing: I hand-select each gemstone directly from independent lapidary artists and trusted mineral suppliers for its visual character and raw energy. Often, a unique cabochon or weathered stone becomes the catalyst for an entire piece.
Bench Smithing & Fabrication: Every piece begins at the bench. Using traditional silversmithing techniques ~ sawing, hand-stamping, filing, and torch-soldering ~ I build a solid, structural foundation using certified lead-free sterling silver, copper, and brass.
The Electrocauldron Process: For select relics, the forged piece then enters the electroforming bath. Over 24 to 48 hours of slow, low-voltage alchemy, solid copper deposits particle-by-particle onto the setting. This intentional process creates organic, textured landscapes that celebrate the raw, unpredictable beauty of nature.
A Wearable Narrative
Every relic from our studio is built to be worn, held, and cherished for a lifetime. When you choose a creation from The Amethyst Moon, you are welcoming a piece of slowmade artistry ~ protected, empowered, and deeply connected to the earth.
Warmest blessings,
Therese
