Hello! I’m Therese, the artist behind the scenes of The Amethyst Moon.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a creative spirit. I can’t think of a time when I haven’t drawn, dreamed, painted, and created… AND…I’ve always LOVED jewelry. My first “real” job was working the counter of a jewelry store. The owners were inspiring and so talented. I had never seen a bench jeweler at work before then, and to say I was in complete awe would be an understatement. I think that experience sparked a fire in me that was never extinguished…thank goodness…because now I get to do what I love every day!!!
Creating unique, handmade, artisan jewelry is my passion. I love using a mixture of metals in my jewelry, including copper, fine silver, sterling silver, and brass, as well as 14kt gold. I like to describe my design esthetic as Earthy ~ Mystical ~ Bohemian. I love creating rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets, including cuffs, which honestly is one of my favorite pieces to create and wear!
I find inspiration in nature and I embrace the “wild woman” side of my soul. It’s easy to be inspired when you’re able to use all of your senses at once! I am completely addicted to rocks, crystals and gemstones. I choose every stone individually, letting the energy of each speak to me on a primal level. Connection with nature is a key part of my creative process. Many times I will pick up something interesting at the beach or in the woods and bring it back to the studio. It is amazing how nature can gift you with the perfect component for a very special one-of-a-kind creation.
True to my nature, my creative process can’t be categorized into a single technique or style. I employ the time tested skills of a silversmith mixed with non-traditional flair I picked up years ago while working metal on a much larger scale in the sign industry. I also like to create using a very organic looking method called electroforming. Sometimes I even mix them all up together!!
My jewelry is an extension of all the experiences I have been lucky to have, and I’m excited to share that little bit of me with anyone who wears it.
The Amethyst Moon is an extension of my love of nature, offering a selection of beautiful earthy jewelry and adornment made for body, crystals and stones for spirit, and unique artisan décor for home.
